VinLocate Notification controls one thing: whether InVintory offers to put bottles into their 3D slots straight after you have added them to your collection. It is on by default, and you turn it on or off in Settings.
⭐ Requires a paid plan. Without VinLocate on your plan the row is not in Settings at all, because there is nothing for it to offer.
It is not a push notification and has nothing to do with drink windows or reminders. Nothing is sent to your phone; it only decides what happens on screen the moment you finish adding bottles.
Turning it on or off
Open Settings — tap the gear icon on the home screen and choose Account settings, or open the Profile tab and tap the gear icon.
Scroll to Preferences.
Switch VinLocate Notification on or off.
Home → gear icon → Account settings → Preferences → VinLocate Notification
The setting is saved on the device you change it on, so your iPhone and your iPad each keep their own answer.
What it changes
The wording under the switch says it exactly: On iPhone, this determines whether the "Add to VinLocate" popup appears. On iPad, it determines whether or not adding bottles will go directly into VinLocate.
| Switched on | Switched off |
iPhone | After adding bottles, an Add to 3D positions panel appears listing each storage you added to | You get the normal confirmation and the bottles wait in your collection without a position |
iPad | Adding bottles takes you straight into the 3D view to place them | Bottles are filed to the storage and nothing opens |
If the prompt stopped appearing, this is almost always why. The Add to 3D positions panel carries a Don't ask me this again checkbox, and ticking it switches this very setting off. Turn VinLocate Notification back on and the panel returns.
On the panel itself, Add to 3D beside a storage opens the 3D view for it, each storage turns to Added as you finish, and Skip closes the panel and leaves the bottles unplaced. Skipping costs you nothing — you can place them any time, and the Without a 3D position filter lists everything still waiting.
On Android and the web
There is no equivalent on app.invintory.com. The Android app shows a VinLocate Notification switch in Settings, but it is not connected to anything yet — moving it has no effect, and no prompt appears after adding bottles.
