An import brings a whole collection in at once — from a spreadsheet, from CellarTracker, or from a Vivino export. Every source is started on the web at app.invintory.com; only CellarTracker can also be started inside the apps.
⚠️ An import always adds — it never merges. If the collection already holds bottles, importing a file that includes those same wines leaves you with two of each. Import into an empty collection where you can.

Tapping Vivino or Spreadsheet in the apps emails you a link to the upload page — there is no file picker inside them. Importing needs Editor access, and the in-app Import data section shows only for Admins and Owners.
What your spreadsheet needs
Three columns are required, named exactly as the guide page lists them: Vintage, Producer and Wine name. Save it as .csv or .xlsx. Use Download our template and the names are already in place.
Everything else is optional — size, quantity, cellar name, purchase price and date, notes. Two are worth adding anyway: Wine type and Grapes are often the difference between a wine we match outright and one a person has to look at.
If a date could be read either way, a Just checking… step asks you to pick the Date format — day first or month first.
💡 An import cannot place bottles into 3D positions. The guide says so in as many words: “we are unable to import your bottles directly into 3D positions at this time.” Use the Custom bottle location column to carry your own coordinates across as text, then place the bottles in VinLocate afterwards.
Uploading a spreadsheet
Open app.invintory.com, go to Import Bottles, and choose Import spreadsheet.
Read the Get Started guide, using Download our template if you want the columns laid out for you.
Click Upload spreadsheet, drop your file in, then Submit to our team.
Anything missing is shown to you, with Reupload .CSV to try again. If it is only a warning, confirm the date format and click Start import.

Android: Settings → your collection → Import data
When it finishes
Everyone who owns or administers the collection gets a notification — in the app, by email and as a push. If some rows could not be matched, that email carries a spreadsheet listing them. Everything that did match is already in your collection.
⚠️ One import at a time — and a failed one still counts. Told the collection already has an import in progress? Open app.invintory.com, go to Import Bottles and press Cancel import. You cannot cancel from the apps.
