What to do if your collection looks empty

Your wine is not gone — update the app and reopen it first, then rule out an old iOS, a filter, the wrong collection, or the wrong account.

Your wine is not gone. Your collection is stored on our servers, not on your phone, so an empty screen means the app is showing you a stale view of it — update InVintory in the App Store, then fully close and reopen the app.

💡 Nothing you did deleted anything. Signing in, signing out, updating and reinstalling never remove bottles. If the app has stopped showing your collection, the collection is still on our servers waiting for the app to catch up. Please don't reset your password or start adding bottles again — neither helps, and re-adding makes it harder to sort out.

Do this first — update, then reopen

This is what our support team tries first, and on its own it clears most reports of a missing collection. Do both halves: updating is not enough on its own, because the app has to be restarted before it loads everything fresh.

  1. Open the App Store and search for InVintory.

  2. If the button reads Update, tap it and let it finish. If it reads Open, you are already on the latest version — carry on to step 3 anyway.

  3. Close InVintory completely: swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold, then flick the InVintory card away. Going back to the Home Screen is not the same thing.

  4. Open InVintory again and give it a few seconds to load.

App Store → InVintory → Update → close the app fully → reopen

InVintory never prompts you when a new version is out, so checking the App Store yourself is worth doing any time the app behaves oddly. A months-old version misbehaves in ways that make no sense on their own — an empty list underneath a bottle count, or a tap that opens a different wine from the one you tapped.

If the App Store will not update you

InVintory needs iOS 18 or later. On an iPhone or iPad still running something older, the App Store will not offer you the version we ship — you may see no Update button at all, or be given an old version instead. Nothing in the app explains this, so it looks exactly like a stale app that refuses to catch up, and updating and reopening cannot fix it.

Check SettingsGeneralSoftware Update on the device. If iOS 18 is offered, install it and then update InVintory. If your device cannot go that far, it cannot run the current app — sign in at app.invintory.com in a browser instead, on that device or any other. Your collection is untouched either way and every bottle is waiting there.

Settings → General → Software Update

Clear any filter, and check the collection

A saved filter or a leftover search hides bottles without hiding the fact that it is doing so. If the screen says No bottles matched your search, that is a filter talking, not an empty collection — open Filters and tap Clear.

If you keep more than one collection, check you are in the right one. On iPhone, iPad and Android, tap the collection name at the top of Home, then Switch collection. On the web app, use the collection dropdown above the left sidebar.

Home → collection name → Switch collection

Only then, check which account you are in

Signing in with a different Apple Account or Google account does not fail — it quietly creates a new, empty account. There is no error and no warning, so it is worth ruling out. Your bottles stay safe under the account you built them in, so do not add anything to the empty one.

  1. Go to Profile.

  2. Tap the gear icon in the top right.

  3. Under Account, read Email — the address you are signed in as.

  4. Linked Sign-In Methods, just below it, names which methods this account accepts.

Profile → gear icon → Account → Email

Then search every inbox you own for InVintory. We emailed you when you signed up, so whichever inbox holds those emails is the address on your real account. The app also remembers: sign out and the welcome screen shows You're back! naming the last method used on that device.

Every removal is logged and names who made it, so the Activity screen settles it — the History tab on iPad, and Activity everywhere else. If it reads No History, nothing has ever been removed from the collection in front of you, which is itself proof you are looking at a different account.

Still empty?

Message us and we will find it for you. Tell us every email address you might have used, whether you signed up with Apple, Google, or an email and password, and which version of InVintory you are on. We can see which methods each account uses and point you at the right one.
