How to import from CellarTracker

Signing in, choosing which parts of your CellarTracker account to bring across, and the one option to think twice about.

Sign in with your CellarTracker username and password, choose which parts of your CellarTracker account to bring across, and the matching runs on its own — no file to prepare, no queue, and nobody reviewing it. It is the only source you can start inside the iPhone, iPad and Android apps as well as on the web.

⚠️ Leave Community Reviews off unless you want your tasting notes made public. Every CellarTracker note that has a date on it is imported as a public review on that wine, with comments open — the opposite of writing one in the app, where you choose Private or Public yourself. In the iPhone, iPad and Android apps this option is switched on before you touch it, so turn it off on the first screen if you want your notes kept to yourself.

Starting the import

  1. Open the CellarTracker import — the paths are below.

  2. Turn the five options on or off. In the apps they all start on; on the web they all start off and you must tick at least one.

  3. Enter your CellarTracker username — the handle, not the email address you sign in with — and your password.

  4. Tap Import, or Continue on the web. The app warns that connecting “can take up to a minute”; leave it alone until it finishes.

Your CellarTracker account is not touched. As the web page puts it, your data “will be transferred to InVintory but will remain in your CellarTracker account as well.”

If signing in fails

We use CellarTracker's own public export, which only accepts a username and password, and we do not store either of them. Two things go wrong:

  • Told your details are wrong? Use your CellarTracker handle, not your email address — the app says so in as many words, and it is by far the most common cause.

  • Told we could not get your data? Either the CellarTracker collection is empty, or CellarTracker is blocking us. Wait a few minutes and try again.

Where to start it

iPhone & iPad: Home → collection name → Collection settings → Import data → CellarTracker
Android: Settings → your collection → Import data → Cellar Tracker
Web: app.invintory.com → Import Bottles → Import from → CellarTracker
