When you remove a bottle, the app asks for a Reason, a date and a Removal note. All three are optional — but the reason is the one that changes your numbers.
Leave the screen alone and the bottle records as Consumed, dated today. All three can be changed afterwards.
What each detail does
Detail | What it affects |
Reason | Your analytics count a bottle as drunk only when the reason is Consumed. Year in Review reads the removal date instead, so every reason counts towards its drinking cards. The reason is also a filter in Past bottles. |
Date | When the removal happened. Past bottles sorts and filters by it, and Year in Review uses it to decide which year a bottle belongs to. Leave it blank and we record today. |
Removal note | A short line for yourself — “Corked”, “Gifted to Alex”. It stays on the record, and searching your collection matches it, labelled Removal note: under the wine. For a proper tasting note, write a review instead. |
Tags | On iPhone, iPad and the web you can add or clear tags in the same step. |
The seven reasons
Consumed is already selected. Whichever you pick, the date heading renames itself to match.

Delete is not on this list. It is a separate, permanent action, and a deleted bottle never reaches Past bottles. If your collection has custom removal reasons of its own, the grid shows those instead of the seven above.
Changing the details later
Open the bottle in Past bottles and tap Edit details. A Removal details section holds the same reason, date and note. Select several past bottles first to set all three on the batch at once. Android offers the same Removal Details section.
On each platform
iPhone & iPad: Reason → date → Removal note → Tags → Confirm
Android: Reason → date → Removal note → Confirm
Web: Remove → pick the reason → date → Removal Notes → Tags → Remove
On the web you choose the reason from the Remove menu before the panel opens, so the panel is already titled with it. Android has no tags step yet, and its date heading always reads Consumed on whichever reason you pick — the reason itself still saves correctly.
