A CellarSticker is a small NFC sticker you put on a rack, case, bin or bottle and link to that exact spot in InVintory — then hold your iPhone to it to open that location or bottle in the app.
⭐ Requires a paid plan. On Free the Connect options don't appear, and Scan CellarSticker opens an explainer instead.
You don't need the app open to use one. With your iPhone unlocked, hold the top of it against a sticker and iOS shows a banner — tap that and InVintory opens straight on the linked location or bottle.
Where to get them
Stickers come from shop.invintory.com, which the app opens for you from Shop CellarStickers in any of the menus below. There are two kinds — one for standard surfaces and one for metal — so choose metal if your racking or fridge is metal.
Connect a sticker
Open the storage, section, case, bin or bottle you want the sticker to point at.
Tap ⋯ at the top right, then Connect CellarSticker.
When the prompt appears, hold the top of your iPhone flat against the sticker.
Wait for Write successful! The sticker is now linked.
Cellar → section → ⋯ → Connect CellarSticker → hold phone to sticker
What a sticker can point at | Where the option lives |
A whole cellar or fridge | The storage's ⋯ menu → Connect storage to CellarSticker |
A section — rack, shelf or bin | The ⋯ beside that section in your storage's section list |
A wine case | The case's ⋯ menu → Connect CellarSticker |
One bin or slot | The bin's ⋯ menu → Connect bin to CellarSticker |
A single bottle | The bottle's ⋯ menu → Connect CellarSticker |
You need edit access to the collection, so view-only collaborators won't see these options.
Reassigning a sticker
The link lives on the sticker itself, not in your account — nothing is registered with InVintory. So to point a sticker somewhere else, just open the new location and run Connect CellarSticker again. It overwrites what was there, and you can do it as often as you like.
Scanning one
Hold your unlocked iPhone to the sticker and tap the banner iOS shows. Or from inside the app, tap + and choose Scan CellarSticker, or use More → Scan CellarSticker on your home screen. Either way you land on the linked section or bottle, ready to view, edit or remove bottles.
If a scan or write fails
It is almost always interference. A phone case, metal racking, a magnet or another device right beside the sticker will drop the connection, and the app will say the connection was interrupted. Take your case off, then hold the phone flat against the sticker again. If you are sticking to metal, use the metal-surface stickers.
Not the same as barcode labels
CellarStickers are NFC: you tap them with your phone, and one usually marks a place. Barcode labels are stickers you print onto Avery sheets and read with the camera, and each one marks a single bottle. Different products — you can use both.
iPad, Android and the web
CellarStickers are iPhone-only. iPad has no NFC reader, so the options are hidden there. Android and app.invintory.com can open the store so you can buy stickers, but cannot connect or scan them yet.
