How to request a refund

Who can refund an InVintory charge depends on who took the money — Apple, Google or us — and why cancelling is not the same as a refund.

Whoever took the money is the only one who can give it back. Apple refunds App Store purchases, Google refunds Play Store purchases, and we can only look at a subscription we billed you for directly. So the first thing to settle is who charged you.

⚠️ Cancelling is not a refund. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not undo one already taken. If you have just been billed and want that charge back, cancelling alone will not do it — you have to ask for a refund as well, using the steps below.

First, work out who charged you

app.invintory.com → Settings → your collection → Subscription

The web app names the store outright. If the Subscription row reads “Your subscription was issued via the App store” then Apple charged you; “…via the Play store” means Google did. If it reads “Managed by InVintory”, or if the row is clickable and opens a billing portal, we charged you. How to cancel your subscription walks through the same three paths in the phone apps. Your card statement is the other giveaway — the charge is named for Apple, for Google, or for InVintory.

If Apple charged you

Apple holds the money and makes the decision, so nobody at InVintory can refund an App Store purchase. Ask Apple:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account that was charged.

  2. Choose I'd like to, then Request a refund.

  3. Choose a reason, then select Next.

  4. Choose the InVintory purchase, then select Submit.

Apple asks you to allow 24 to 48 hours for a decision. On a Family Sharing purchase, the family organiser is the one who can request it.

If Google Play charged you

The same applies on Android — Google holds the money.

  1. Go to play.google.com and click your profile picture.

  2. Choose Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history.

  3. Find the InVintory charge and click Report a problem.

  4. Pick the option that matches your situation, fill in the form and click Submit.

Google says a decision usually takes a day and can take up to four.

If we charged you directly

This covers subscriptions started on the web app, subscriptions started with a promo code, and anything the app calls “Managed by InVintory”. Email support@invintory.com from the address on your account, saying which collection it is and the date of the charge, and we will look at it with you.

Charged twice, or charged after cancelling

Two charges usually means two subscriptions rather than one doubled charge — typically one started on a phone and another on the web, so Apple and we are both billing you. Check the Subscription row on every collection you own, cancel the one you do not want, and ask that store for the refund. A charge landing just after you cancelled is normally the renewal that was already in flight.
