How to add wines by scanning a receipt

Photograph or upload a wine receipt or invoice, check what we read, and add every bottle at once — plus what gets filled in and what is skipped.

Take a photo of a wine receipt or invoice, or upload one, and InVintory reads the wines, prices and store for you. It turns the receipt into a purchase that you check before any bottles are added to your collection. It is the fastest way to add a whole order at once.

⭐ Part of Premium. On iPhone and iPad, tapping Scan receipt without Premium opens the upgrade screen.

Scan on iPhone or iPad

  1. Choose Take photo, Upload photo or Upload PDF. When taking a photo, fit the whole receipt in the frame and make sure the image is clear.

  2. If your receipt has more than one page, tap Add page to add the next one. To remove a page, tap it and tap Delete.

  3. Tap Next. InVintory uploads and reads your receipt, and you can watch it match each wine.

Check the scanned items

What to do

A matched wine

Check the wine, vintage, size, storage location, price per bottle and quantity, and change anything that's wrong. You can also add or remove items

No match found in database

Tap Select match to pick from the wines we suggest, or Search manually to find it yourself

A line with no suggestions (web)

Type the Wine name and choose the Wine type, and we'll try to add it when you save — or click search manually

A highlighted vintage or bottle size (web)

We couldn't read it from the receipt. Fill it in

Skipped items (iPhone and iPad)

Lines that didn't look like wine. If one of them is a wine, tap Add item

Every scanned wine needs a match before you can add the purchase to your collection or a delivery.

🧾 Nothing is added until you say so. Bottles only join your collection when you choose Add to collection or create a delivery. A saved draft stays out of your collection.

What gets filled in

Field

Where it comes from

Purchased from

The store name on the receipt — only if you haven't already picked one

Purchase date and transaction number

Read from the receipt

Wine, vintage and bottle size

Read from each line and matched to our database

Quantity

Read from each line. A line with no quantity counts as one bottle

Price per bottle

In the receipt's currency. If the receipt only shows a line total, we divide it by the quantity

Storage location

Your first storage location. You can change it for each item

Wine, sparkling, fortified wine, sake and spirits are read as items. Things like glassware, corkscrews, gift bags, shipping and bottle deposits are skipped. Tax, discounts and totals are never added as items.

Files and limits

File types

PDF, JPG or PNG

File size

Up to 10 MB each

Pages

Up to 12 on iPhone and iPad, or 16 on the web. A PDF with several pages counts as one file

What to do

We couldn't find any items on your receipt

Add the wines yourself, or tap Rescan with a clear image that shows every item

Your file is difficult to read

Retake the photo in good light and make sure the text is sharp
