A source records where a bottle came from — a shop, a winery, a website or a person. Pick one under Purchased or received from on the add or edit form, and from then on Source is something you can filter and export by.
🏷️ Sources belong to the collection, not to you. A custom source you create is there for everyone who shares the collection, and everyone's bottles feed the same list.
The three groups in the picker
Group | What is in it |
Recent Sources | Only sources this collection has actually used. It is empty until you have saved a bottle or a delivery against one, which is why a new collection sees nothing here. |
Near You | Real places a few kilometres around you, looked up as you type. It needs Location Services — without them you get Find a place near you and a Turn On button instead. Picking one stores its address with the source. |
Custom | Sources you typed yourself. Use these for a person, a private cellar, an auction house, or a shop our place lookup cannot find. |
Creating one of your own
On the bottle form, tap the row under Purchased or received from.
Type the name. Tap Add custom place "…" as it appears, or Add custom source at the bottom of the Custom group.
Fill in Name. Address (optional) is exactly that — choose a real address and the name fills itself in if you left it blank.
Tap Done. The source is created and selected in one step.
Reusing a name you already have does not create a second copy — you get the source you made before.
Editing and deleting
Tap Edit beside the Custom heading. Each row then has a minus button to delete it, and tapping the row opens it for renaming or for adding an address. Deleting only takes the source out of the picker — bottles already recorded against it keep it. Only your own custom sources can be edited or deleted, not the shared places.
What a source is worth later
Source is a filter on your collection, on past bottles and on your activity — this is how you answer "what have I bought from this merchant".
The CSV export carries a Source and a Source Address column, both taken from the place attached to the source, so a custom source with no address leaves them blank.
A delivery will not save without a source, so wine on order gets one whether you meant to set it or not.

The web app is one search box rather than three groups: type, and shared places, your custom sources and an Add custom source "…" option all appear together, with editing and deleting on each result. Either way, choosing or creating a source needs editor access.
