Email support@invintory.com from the address you sign in with, and tell us three things: what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screen recording is worth more than all three.
Nothing in InVintory records your screen
The app sends us crash reports and error logs, and on iPhone and iPad they are tagged with your account — so the email address you sign in with is usually enough for us to find them. What nothing records is what you tapped. That is the piece only you can give us, so put your effort there.
Worth writing down | Leave it out |
The steps you took, in order, ending with the one that went wrong | Your device model and your iOS version |
A screen recording, or a screenshot if the problem holds still | Your app version — every request the app makes tells us |
The email address on your account, and roughly when it happened | A crash log or diagnostic file — iPhone and iPad send us those |
Which wine, cellar or collection it happened on, by name | A diagnosis — tell us what you saw, not what you think caused it |
Before you write, check it is already fixed
Open the App Store, search for InVintory and look for Update rather than Open. It can take a second for the button to settle, so pause on the listing.
Compare it with the version you are running: Profile → the gear icon, top right → scroll to About → Version. Quote that whole line to us, trailing number included — that number is the build.
If the app has shown you Update Available, or iOS No Longer Supported, act on it first. Those prompts appear at most once a week, so it is easy to have waved one away.
Profile → gear icon → About → Version
If the app quit on its own, reopen it
iOS hands us a crash report only on the launch after the crash, and often not until the next day — so an app you never reopen sends us nothing at all.
Recording your screen
Add Screen Recording to Control Centre, start it, reproduce the problem, stop it, and attach the video from Photos — Apple's instructions. Video beats everything else, because it shows the order you did things in.
Android
The Android app is in open beta and carries an Invintory Android Beta banner across the top of the Home tab with a Report bug button, which opens a form in your browser. That or email both work. Android sends us far less automatically, so include everything: your device, your Android version, and the Version, Build number, Update channel and Runtime version rows from Settings → About.
The web app
When a page breaks, the error screen shows an Error ID and a Contact support link that opens an email already filled in with that ID, the page, the time and your browser. Use it — the ID matches our log entry exactly. Otherwise email us and say which browser you are in.
