Someone has invited you to their collection, and we have emailed you a six-character code. Sign in to your own InVintory account, open Join a new collection, type the code in and tap Join. You are in straight away — there is nothing for the other person to approve.
💡 Joining someone else's collection does not touch your own. You keep your collection exactly as it is and simply gain a second one, and you switch between them whenever you like. Nothing is merged, moved or copied.
You need an InVintory account of your own before the code will work. If you do not have one yet, download the app or go to app.invintory.com and sign up first — creating an account is free. The code is not tied to the address we sent it to, so if you signed up with a different email it still works.
On iPhone and iPad
Profile → gear icon → Join a new collection
Tap Profile in the bottom bar, then the gear icon in the top right.
Scroll to the Collections section and tap Join a new collection.
Type the code into the six boxes. Tap Join in the top right.
You get a Cheers! screen telling you which collection you joined and as what. Tap Continue and the app switches you into it.
The same code box is also on the collection switcher — tap the collection name at the top of the home screen, then Join.
On Android
Settings → Collections → Join a new collection
Type the code and tap Join. Android switches you into the new collection as soon as it is accepted.
On the web app
app.invintory.com → Settings → My collections → Join a new collection
Paste the code into the Enter code box and click Join.
If the code is refused
What you are told | What to do |
The code is invalid or has expired | Codes last 30 days. Ask whoever invited you to open Collaborators and resend it — that issues a fresh code. Check the digits too; the code is six characters and nothing else. |
The code was already used | A code works once. If somebody redeemed it already, ask for a new invite. |
You are already part of this collection | Nothing to do — the collection is already on your account. Switch to it from the collection switcher rather than joining again. |
If the email never arrived, check spam, then ask the person who invited you to read the code out: it is shown beside your name under Invited on their Collaborators screen.
After you join
Switch between your collections from the collection name at the top of the home screen. What you can change in the collection you joined depends on the role you were given — Admin, Editor or Viewer — and the person who invited you can change it at any time.
A code from a wine club rather than from a person works differently: it links one storage to the club instead of giving you a whole collection.
