Every bottle you take out of your collection moves to Past bottles — a searchable, filterable archive of what you have drunk, gifted, sold or otherwise removed.
Removing a bottle never erases its history. The purchase price and date, storage, tags, removal note and any reviews you wrote all stay on the record — and you can put the bottle back in your collection at any time with Undo removal.
All seven removal reasons land here — Consumed, Gifted, Sold, Broken, Expired, Donated and Missing — along with any custom reasons your collection has set up.
⚠️ Delete is not one of those reasons. It is a separate action sitting beside Remove, and it makes you type DELETE and the bottle count first. Deleted bottles never reach Past bottles and Undo removal cannot bring them back. Deleting from this screen clears a bottle out of the archive for good, so remove instead whenever you want to keep the record.
What removing a bottle actually changes
Collection value and bottle count | Stop counting it |
Analytics and Year in Review | Read Consumed only — that is the reason that marks a bottle as drunk. The other reasons simply label it |
Activity feed | Keeps the removal as a dated event |
Your reviews and tasting notes | Untouched — they belong to the wine, not the bottle |
On iPhone & iPad

On the web

What you can do from here
Search and filter. The Removal, Ratings and Tags chips sit under the search bar; the full filter sheet adds removal date and everything you can filter by on your Collection page. Display settings control which details show on each row.
Put bottles back. Select the bottles, then choose Undo removal. On iPhone and iPad, VinLocate opens afterwards so you can place them back into slots.
Export. Download a CSV grouped by label or grouped by bottle.
Review. Open any past bottle to read the review you left or write one now.
