You cannot hand ownership over from inside the app. Ownership is set when a collection is created, and Owner is not one of the roles you can assign — so email us at support@invintory.com with both email addresses and we will move the collection to the other account. If the other person only needs to work in the collection, make them an Admin instead; that takes a minute and needs nothing from us.
⚠️ The plan does not travel with the collection. A subscription belongs to whoever pays for it and follows them, not the collection they hand over. If the new owner has no plan of their own, the collection loses its paid features the moment ownership moves — so sort their subscription out first.
💡 An Admin can do almost everything an owner can — add, edit and remove bottles, manage storages, and invite other people. Only the plan and ownership itself are reserved for the owner. Most people asking to change the owner actually want this.
Profile → your collection → Collaborators → Invite → Admin
What moves and what does not
Thing | What happens |
The collection | All of it moves — bottles, storages, VinLocate positions, tags, custom fields, history and the other collaborators. Nothing is re-imported, so nothing is lost or renumbered. |
The plan | Stays with the person paying for it. Moving ownership never moves a subscription. |
Your access | Gone. You come off the collection entirely, so ask the new owner to invite you back as a collaborator if you still want to see it. |
Your own collection | The two accounts trade collections, so you end up owning whatever collection the other account had. Handing over to a brand-new account is the tidiest version of this. |
How to ask us to move it
Have the person receiving it create their own InVintory account, and leave it empty.
Email support@invintory.com from the address on the account that owns the collection today.
Tell us the collection's name, your email address and theirs.
We move it and reply to confirm. To undo it, ask us to move it back.
If you set the collection up on someone else's behalf
When the account signs in with an email address and a password, you can hand over the whole account instead: change the email address to theirs, then have them reset the password from the sign-in screen.
One catch — changing the email address does not change how you sign in. If the account was created with Apple or Google, the new owner would still be tapping your Apple or Google button, so this route does not work and you need us to move the collection instead.
If you only want a copy of the data
Exporting and re-importing copies wine into another account rather than moving it. Export the collection as a CSV, then use Upload a spreadsheet on the other account. The original collection stays exactly where it is, and label photos, reviews, VinLocate positions and custom fields do not come across — so it is a way to seed a second collection, not a way to hand one over.
