How to remove bottles

Pick the bottles, choose a reason, tap Confirm — and why Delete is the one action you cannot undo.

Pick the bottles, choose a reason, tap Confirm. The bottles leave your collection and land in Past bottles, where the price you paid, your tags and your notes all stay on the record.

⚠️ Delete is the one thing you cannot undo. It is not a removal reason — it is a separate action beside Remove that makes you type DELETE and the bottle count. Deleted bottles never reach Past bottles, and Undo removal cannot recover them. To keep the record, remove instead.

Removing bottles

Remove Bottles search screen with a search bar to find wines
  1. On Home, tap Remove.

  2. Search your collection and tap the wine.

  3. Tap each bottle you are removing, or Select All in the top-right corner. If you only own one, this screen is skipped.

  4. Pick a Reason — Consumed, Gifted, Sold, Broken, Expired, Donated or Missing. Consumed is already selected.

  5. Add a date and a removal note if you want them. Both are optional; leave the date alone and the removal records as today.

  6. Tap Confirm.

The date heading renames itself to match the reason, and on iPhone, iPad and the web you can add or clear tags in the same step.

Your analytics count a bottle as drunk only when the reason is Consumed — the other reasons just label it, so pick whichever you will want to filter Past bottles by later. Year in Review is more forgiving: it reads the removal date, so every reason counts towards its drinking cards. A bottle you permanently deleted counts for neither, because deleting leaves no removal date behind.

For several different wines, select them in your collection list and tap Remove — all take the same reason, date and note.

Leaving a review as you remove

On iPhone and iPad, consuming bottles of a single wine offers:

  • Create Review — write your note and rating now. Every review starts Private; tap the badge to make it Public.

  • Remind Later — get a notification to write it later.

Turn the offer off under Settings → Review Prompt.

Putting a bottle back

Open Past bottles, select the bottles and choose Undo removal. They return to your collection, and the reason, date and note are cleared. Removal also empties the bottle's 3D slot; on iPhone and iPad VinLocate opens afterwards to place it again.

On each platform

iPhone & iPad: Home → Remove → search → tap the wine → reason → Confirm
Android: Home → Remove → search → tap the wine → reason → Confirm
Web: app.invintory.com → Quick Actions → Remove Bottle → select bottles → Remove → reason → Remove

Removing 10 or more at once on iPhone or iPad asks you to type REMOVE and the number first. If you joined a collection as a viewer, Remove is locked — ask the owner for editor access.

Custom reasons require Hospitality. An owner or admin creates them on iPhone or iPad under Collection settings → Custom Removal Types, and they appear alongside the standard reasons for everyone in the collection.
