A wine case is a section that holds any number of bottles in one place, so a sealed twelve-bottle case is one entry rather than twelve slots. Create it from the Cases section of a cellar or fridge, give it a name, then add bottles to it.
⭐ Requires a paid plan. Cases are part of VinLocate, so on a free collection a storage shows an upgrade card instead of its sections and cases.
Creating a case
Open the cellar or fridge and find the Cases section.
Tap Create.
Type a name on the Case Name screen — "Case 1", "OWC Latour 2016", whatever you will recognise. You can change it at any time.
Tap Continue. The case is created straight away and opens on its own screen.
Tap Add bottles and choose bottles already in your collection.
There is nothing else to configure — no rows, columns or depth, because a case is a single position however many bottles are in it.
What you can do to a case
Action | What it does |
Rename | Changes the name only. Nothing moves. |
Duplicate | Creates a second, empty case beside it. The bottles are not copied — useful when a delivery arrives as several identical cases. |
Delete | Removes the case. The bottles stay in your collection and in the same cellar; they simply stop being in a case. |
Remove from Case | Takes selected bottles out of the case and leaves them in the collection unplaced. Removing ten or more asks you to type |
All four need editor access. Rename, Duplicate and Delete are in the ⋯ menu on the case's own screen; Remove from Case appears once you have selected bottles inside it. To take a bottle out of your collection altogether — because you drank it — use Remove instead.
📦 Cases are the one thing you can still change in a cellar we modelled for you. If our team built your 3D cellar, its racks and bins are fixed — but you can still create, fill and delete cases in it.
Putting a case into the 3D model
A case can sit in the model as well as in the list. Open a bin in 3D, choose to add a case, and pick one from Select a case to add; locating any bottle in the case then points you at the case. This is optional — a case works perfectly well unplaced.
On each platform
iPhone, iPad & Android: the storage → Cases → Create → name it → Continue
Web: app.invintory.com → the storage page → Cases → Create
All three show the first three cases with a link to the rest. On the web, create a case from the Cases card on the storage page — the New case button inside the 3D sections panel does not do anything yet.
