Start from what is ready to drink, gather the wines you settle on into a saved list, then log what you actually opened. None of it needs planning weeks ahead.

1. Start from what is ready
Ready to drink on your home screen shows a card for each wine whose drink window covers this year. The button beside the heading opens the whole list — and widens it to take in Drink Soon as well, so bottles with a couple of years left come along instead of being saved for a party that never happens.
Cooking something in particular? Filter instead. Pairings lists the foods your own wines are matched to — Beef, Lamb, Shellfish, Blue Cheese and the rest — and adding Drink status keeps the answer to bottles that are actually ready.

2. Keep the line-up somewhere
A saved list is the right home for it. A list holds wines rather than bottles, so something you still mean to buy can sit beside what is already in the cellar, and every entry carries the vintage you chose and a note of your own.

3. Work out how to serve it
Turn on Decanting instructions under Filter → Display and every row in your collection carries the decanting time we hold for that wine and vintage. The wine's own page reads None needed where there is none. That toggle is on iPhone and iPad.
For anything we do not hold, open the wine and tap Ask Vincent, which offers How should I serve this? and What should I pair with this? as ready-made questions.
4. On the night
Select the wines on your collection page and the action bar offers two things worth using. Create Wine List turns the selection into a printable list for the table. Locate shows each bottle's slot in the 3D model of your cellar, so nobody is opening doors at random while the starter goes cold.
5. Log it before the morning
On iPhone, swipe left on the wine, tap Remove, then Confirm — the reason is already Consumed. A Bottle consumed message then offers Create Review to write your note there and then, or Remind Later to be nudged about it a day or so afterwards.
On Android and on the web
Android has the Pairings and Drink status filters and saved lists, but no Ready to drink section on its home screen, no decanting toggle and no Ask Vincent on a wine's page. On app.invintory.com the Dashboard carries a Ready to drink section of its own.
