Using voice commands

Talk to Vincent hands-free using voice mode — ask questions, get recommendations, and hear responses spoken aloud.

Voice mode lets you have a hands-free conversation with Vincent, your AI wine assistant. Speak your question aloud and Vincent will respond both on screen and with spoken audio — perfect when you're in the cellar, cooking, or your hands are busy.

Starting a Voice Conversation

From the home screen, tap Speak under "Vincent - Your AI Sommelier." The voice interaction screen opens with an animated indicator showing Vincent is listening.

How It Works

  1. Speak your question — Talk naturally. Your words appear on screen as they're recognized.

  2. Vincent processes — After you finish speaking, Vincent analyzes your question in the context of your collection.

  3. Hear the response — Vincent's answer appears on screen and is read aloud automatically.

The conversation continues back and forth — after Vincent responds, the microphone reactivates so you can ask follow-up questions.

What to Ask

Voice mode supports the same questions as text chat. Try:

  • "What should I drink tonight?"

  • "Recommend a wine under fifty dollars"

  • "What pairs well with grilled fish?"

  • "Tell me about my Burgundy collection"

  • "Which of my wines is ready to drink?"

Microphone Permissions

The first time you use voice mode, iOS will ask for microphone access. Tap Allow to enable speech recognition. Without this permission, voice mode cannot function.

If you accidentally denied permission, go to Settings → InVintory → Microphone on your iPhone to re-enable it.

Tips

  • Speak clearly — Use natural language but speak at a normal pace. Vincent handles conversational phrasing well.

  • Great for the cellar — When you're standing in front of your wine rack with your hands full, voice mode lets you ask "Where's my 2018 Barolo?" without touching your phone.

  • Works with text chat too — You can toggle between voice and text in the regular Vincent chat by tapping the speaker icon.

  • Uses the same chat limits — Voice conversations count toward the same message limits as text chats on your subscription plan.
