How to fix login problems

Find your symptom — a rejected password, a reset email that never lands, or an account that opens empty — and the fix for it.

Almost every login failure is one of two things: the address you are typing is not the one on your account, or you are using a different sign-in method from the one you signed up with.

⚠️ If you signed up with Apple or Google, your account has no password. Resetting a password will never let you in. You have to use the same Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google button you started with.

Let the app tell you which method you used

If you have signed in on this device before, the welcome screen already knows. The iPhone and iPad app shows You're back! and You last logged in with this email: — or Apple ID if you used Apple. Android shows You previously logged in with. The button underneath repeats that exact method, so it cannot be wrong.

Open InVintory → You're back! → Log in

“The password is invalid or the user does not have a password”

Read the second half of that message literally. It appears both when the password is wrong and when there is no password at all, because the account was created with Apple or Google. The web app words the same failure as The email or password you entered is incorrect. Please try again.

Use the Apple or Google button matching the Apple Account or Google account you built your collection under. Picking a different one does not fail — it creates a second, empty account instead.

The reset email never arrives

The confirmation is optimistic. The iPhone and iPad app says Link sent to your address and Android says Email has been sent!, whether or not an account exists on that address. Only the web app is candid: If an account exists with your email address, … So silence usually means you asked on the wrong address.

  1. Check your spam and junk folders.

  2. Search every inbox you own for InVintory. We emailed you when you signed up, so whichever inbox holds those emails is the address on your account.

  3. Ask for the reset again on that address.

A reset asked for on an Apple or Google account can come back as an email naming the method to use instead of a reset link. That email is your answer.

You get in, but the collection is empty

You are in a different account, not a broken one. Signing in with Apple or Google under an Apple Account or Google account we have never seen does not error — it creates a brand-new account with an empty collection. Do not add bottles to it: sign out and sign back in with the method your collection was built under.

The three ways in

All three work on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web app, where the two social buttons read Continue with rather than Sign in with.

Where to reset a password

On iPhone, iPad and Android, tap Log in, then Forgot your password under the login form, enter your email address and tap Reset. The emailed link opens back in the app, where you choose a new password.

Log in → Forgot your password → Email address → Reset

On the web app, click Forgot password?, then Send reset link.

app.invintory.com/login → Forgot password? → Send reset link

Still locked out? Message us with the addresses you might have used. We can tell you which method your account uses and send you a one-time recovery link.
