How to restore a purchase

How to re-attach an App Store or Google Play subscription when your collection still shows as Free.

If you have paid and your collection still shows as Free, tap Restore Purchases in Settings — it finds the subscription in the App Store or Google Play and re-attaches it to the collection you own.

Only the collection owner can restore a purchase, and only for a subscription bought in the App Store or on Google Play. If we bill you directly there is nothing in a store to restore — sign in with the email address the subscription was bought under.

On iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Profile tab and tap the gear icon.

  2. Under Purchases, tap Restore Purchases.

  3. Confirm. The app shows Purchases restored when it finds one, or No purchases to restore when the store has nothing active for the account signed in on the device.

On Android

Profile → Settings → Purchases → Restore Purchases

Same two outcomes, and the same rule: it looks for a Play Store subscription on the Google account signed in on that phone. The app's own note under the row says it plainly — restoring moves an active subscription onto the collection you have open.

What restore can and cannot do

Restore fixes this

Restore cannot fix this

You reinstalled InVintory, or set up a new phone or tablet

A subscription you started on the web app — there is nothing in a store to restore

You signed out and back in, and the collection dropped to Free

A subscription bought with a different Apple Account or Google account

Your subscription is sitting on the wrong collection

An Elite or Enterprise plan we manage for you

The purchase went through but the app never caught up

A subscription that has genuinely expired or been cancelled

Two things that catch people out

A store subscription follows the account that bought it. Apple ties an App Store purchase to the Apple Account it was bought with, and only one InVintory subscription can live on an Apple Account at a time. If a family member bought it, restore has to run on their Apple Account.

A store subscription can only sit on the collection you own. If you have switched to a collection someone shared with you, switch back to your own collection first — restore will not attach a purchase to somebody else's collection.

If the app says you are on a price we no longer offer

Restore will not help with this one. When your Subscription screen shows an Update your subscription notice saying your paid features are paused because you are subscribed at a price we no longer offer, tap Manage Subscription on that notice — it takes you to your App Store subscription settings, which is the only place it can be changed.

Still showing as Free

Email support@invintory.com with the email address on your InVintory account and the store you bought through. We can see the subscription from our side and put it on the right collection.
