The fastest way to add a wine to your collection is by scanning the label. Point your camera at any wine bottle and InVintory will identify it, pull up all the details, and let you add it in seconds.
What You'll Need
A wine bottle with a readable label
Camera access enabled for InVintory (you'll be prompted the first time)
Step 1: Open the Scanner
Tap the camera icon in the to the right of the bottom tab bar. This is the quickest way.
Step 2: Scan the Label
The camera screen opens with the label scanning mode selected. You'll see a viewfinder rectangle on screen.
Hold your phone steady and frame the wine label inside the viewfinder
You can scan either the front or back of the label — both work
Tap the large white capture button at the bottom to take the photo
For best results, make sure the label is well-lit and the text is clear. Avoid glare from overhead lights.
Camera Controls
Flash — Tap the bolt icon (top right) to toggle the flashlight for low-light situations
Flip camera — Tap the camera-flip icon to switch between front and rear cameras
Photo library — Tap the gallery icon (bottom left) to select a photo you've already taken
Step 3: Wait for Analysis
After you take the photo, InVintory analyzes the label to identify the wine. You'll see a brief animation while it searches our database — this usually takes just a few seconds.
Step 4: Confirm the Match
Once InVintory identifies the wine, you'll see the match on screen. If the correct wine is shown, tap it to continue.
If InVintory finds multiple possible matches, you'll see a list of options. Tap the one that matches your bottle.
Not seeing the right wine? Tap "Search" at the bottom to search for it manually by name instead.
Step 5: Select the Vintage
After selecting the wine, a vintage picker will appear. You'll see popular vintages as quick-select buttons at the top, plus a scrollable list of all years. Tap the vintage that matches your bottle.
Step 6: Add to Your Collection
Now you'll see the Add to Collection form with all the details you can set:
Quantity
Use the + and − buttons to set how many bottles you're adding, or tap a quick-add number: 1, 3, 6, 12, or 24.

Tap Next when you've captured all the pages
Optionally set your budget and food pairing preferences
Vincent will analyze the list and recommend wines based on your preferences
Wine list scanning uses AI analysis. The number of scans available depends on your subscription plan.
Tips
Scan the back label too — Back labels often have more specific information that helps InVintory identify the exact wine and vintage.
Use the photo library — You can scan a photo you already took. Tap the gallery icon on the scan screen to select an image.
Add in batches — After adding a wine, tap "Scan again" to quickly add multiple bottles one after another.
Commercial barcodes — InVintory scans the text on wine labels, not store barcodes. If you accidentally scan a barcode, you'll see a message reminding you to photograph the label instead.
Default storage — The app remembers your last-used storage location, so you only need to set it once per session.
