One box above your collection matches the wine's name, its producer, its grapes and its region — and your own bottle notes along with them. Results narrow as you type.
🔎 Some things are filters, not search terms. A country, a food pairing, a tag, a price or a bottle size will not match as text, however you spell it. Those live in the Filter panel beside the search box.
Search also looks only inside your own collection, so it will never turn up a wine you do not own. The Wines tab described below is the one that reaches our whole database.

When nothing comes back
The app's own tip is the right first move: try removing terms like “Domaine”, “Vineyard” or “Estate”. Some filler is dropped for you — Winery, Vineyards, Estates, Cellars, Family, Bodega, Viña — but not every variation of it, so a producer's full legal name can still be the thing standing in your way.
Short forms are understood: cab, chard, zin, sauv blanc, drc, napa, st for Saint, and burgundy or bourgogne either way round. A long word tolerates a typo; a short one has to be spelled right.
When your own note is the match
A note match shows the matching words under the wine, labelled Note:, with a View btl. link to the exact bottle it came from. In Past bottles the same thing reads Removal note:. Notes are private to your collection — searching never reaches anyone else's.
Searching everything at once
The Search all wines bar — at the top of your home screen on iPhone, in the top bar on iPad — opens a wider search, with the placeholder Try "2018 Tignanello" and four tabs:
Wines — our whole database, including wines you have never owned
Collection — the same search as the box above your bottles
Activity — what has been added, drunk and moved
Reviews — tasting notes

Android's collection carries the same box, counting your bottles in its placeholder, with Filter beside it.
