Reading and writing Community Reviews

Share tasting notes with the InVintory community, browse what others are drinking, and track your own wine journey.

Community Reviews is where InVintory members share their wine experiences. Write tasting notes when you consume a bottle, browse what others are drinking, and build a record of every wine you've tasted.

Accessing Reviews

Tap the Reviews tab at the bottom of the screen. You'll see two tabs:

Community Reviews tab showing My Reviews and Feed tabs with wine reviews listed

  • My Reviews — All the reviews you've written

  • Feed — Reviews from other InVintory members you follow or the broader community

Writing a Review

There are two ways to start a review:

  • After consuming a bottle — When you remove a bottle and select "Consumed," you'll be prompted to create a review right away

  • From the Reviews tab — Tap the + button to create a review for any wine

Create Review screen showing text field, reaction picker, tasting tags, and wine structure sliders

What You Can Include

A review can be as simple or detailed as you like:

  • Written notes — Your tasting impressions in your own words

  • Reaction — A quick emoji reaction (loved it, liked it, etc.)

  • Would repurchase? — Yes or no — would you buy this wine again?

  • Tasting tags — Select flavor and aroma tags that describe the wine (cherry, vanilla, oak, etc.)

  • Wine structure — Rate the sweetness, tannin, acidity, and body on sliders

  • Photos — Add pictures of the wine, label, or the occasion

  • Location — Where you enjoyed the wine

Privacy Settings

Each review can be set to public or private. Public reviews appear in the community feed. Private reviews are only visible to you — useful for personal notes you don't want to share.

You can also toggle whether comments are enabled on your review.

Browsing the Feed

Community Feed showing reviews from other users with wine images, reactions, and tasting notes

The Feed tab shows reviews from the community. Each review shows the reviewer's name, the wine, their reaction, tasting notes, and any photos. Tap a review to see the full details or leave a comment.

Filtering Reviews

Tap the Filter button to narrow the feed by:

  • Reaction — Show only wines people loved, liked, or didn't enjoy

  • Repurchase — Filter by "would repurchase" or "would not repurchase"

  • Photos only — Show only reviews that include photos

Your Review History

The My Reviews tab is your personal wine diary. Every wine you've reviewed is here, searchable and filterable. Over time, this becomes a valuable record of your wine journey — what you've tasted, what you loved, and how your palate has evolved.

Your reviews also power your Year in Review — an annual summary of your wine journey that's generated each January.

Tips

  • Review right after consuming — When you mark a bottle as "Consumed," tap "Create Review" on the prompt. Your impressions are freshest right after tasting.

  • Use the "Remind Later" option — If you can't write a review immediately, choose "Remind Later" when consuming. You'll get a push notification reminder.

  • Even a reaction counts — Don't have time for a full review? Just add a reaction emoji. It still tracks your experience.

  • Use private reviews for notes — Set a review to private if you just want to record personal notes without sharing with the community.

  • Tasting tags help recommendations — When you select tasting tags, Vincent can use this information to better understand your preferences and improve recommendations.
