If Vincent has lost the thread, start a new chat — every conversation is its own memory, and Vincent will pick up fresh.
The one thing that surprises people: Vincent does not carry conversation detail between chats. What travels is your written preferences, the lasting facts Vincent has saved, and your taste profile. Ask "what did we decide earlier?" in a new chat and Vincent genuinely does not know.
Why Vincent forgets
A different chat. Detail stays inside the conversation it happened in.
A very long chat. Vincent works from the recent stretch of a conversation, so the earliest messages in a marathon thread drop out. Starting a new chat for a new subject beats one endless thread.
A different collection. Vincent only ever sees the collection you have open.
To start a new chat, tap the menu icon at the top of the chat, then New Chat. On a free collection you get one conversation, so delete the old one from that same list first.
Reset what Vincent knows about you
Open the chat menu icon → Settings. The Preferences box is free text you write yourself — likes, dislikes, budget, anything useful. It is the part you fully control: edit it, or clear it and tap Save, and Vincent's picture of your taste changes from the next message on.
Vincent also files away lasting preferences you mention in passing; you will see a Saving Memory line while it does. Those are not listed anywhere you can edit, so correct them by telling Vincent directly — "I actually don't like oaky Chardonnay any more" — which it saves as a correction. If a wrong assumption persists after that, contact us with an example — and note that the Preferences box stays the part you can clear yourself at any time.
When a reply stalls or cuts off
An answer that stops mid-sentence usually means the connection dropped, not that Vincent failed. The answer is still being written on our side and is saved to the chat — stay on the screen or reopen the chat and the finished reply appears.
What you see | What to do |
"Something went wrong. Tap to try again." | Tap the message — it resends your question |
"Vincent's response was cut off." or a reply that stops mid-sentence | Reopen the chat; the finished answer is saved there |
"Connection lost — check your internet and try again." | Reconnect and send again |
"Failed to upload image" | Retry, and attach fewer photos in one message |
"Free Limit Reached" | You are at your collection's conversation allowance |
Microphone and speech problems are covered in How to use voice commands.
If Vincent says it did something
Vincent can genuinely add, edit and remove bottles, so a claim like "removed" should be real. It is built never to say a change happened unless it did — but if you are unsure, open the bottle and check. If it did not happen, ask again in a fresh message and name the bottle exactly.
Vincent also cannot buy wine, browse the web, read exported spreadsheets, or change your account. If it ever offers to, that is worth reporting.
